Climbing Club

#1: Climbing Club is in its second year as a club now and they are looking to expand this year. The club was started originally by Ben Mohler and Ian Cobb and last year they climbed a lot inside and met every wednesday. This year, Climbing Club has now expanded to include both the girls and boys division. Mrs. Vela said that "We are hoping to go outside [to climb] at some point". I also interviewed the "Brain Child" behind this club, Ben Mohler. This year he told me that they used school funds to buy equipment and pre paid passes to go climbing every wednesday after school. They all go to the Rock and Jam which is the local climbing gym in Parker.

Comic Book Club

#1: Comic Book Club is a new club at Regis Jesuit that was started by Nick Forester. Mrs. Grey moderates the club and also happens to be very fond of comics as well. Their plans for this year include going on various field trips and going to Comicon in Denver. This club is in the baby stages of its development after talking to one of the newest members of the club, Jacob Santos. He hasn't shown up to any meetings yet but wants to start bringing in some of his comics for his other peers to read. He feels that he has a lot to contribute to the club.

Yearbook Blog #3

I interviewed Joe Bozeman and I interviewed him about his riveting scar story. Freshman year when joe used to play lacrosse as a goalie, Coach Brown, his freshman lacrosse coach, was warming him up before practice. Usually when you warm up a goalie you start out with slow shots and stick side high. When Coach Brown started warming Joe up he decided to shoot the ball really hard and make it a bounce shot. Unfortunately, Joe was not ready for this shot and the ball bounced off the bumpy ground (the field by the girls softball field) and hit joe right in the family jewels (if you know what I mean). Joe fell down immediately and "entered into the worst pain of my life" as Joe describes it. Joe didn't go to school for a few days and was still in a great amount of pain and it was until a week later until he go back on the lacrosse field. Joe also told me that moment made him not want to play goalie anymore and ultimately quit lacrosse for good.

I like how the right and left sides of the spread are brought together by the bleeding technique that this illustrator does. The dots that he uses set the tone of what the article is about and the dots bring your eyes to both the picture and the title which is the ultimate goal when you are creating a spread. The part that I would like to steal and use from this spread is the title bleeding into the picture. I like how the title bleeds into the picture forcing the border between the two to bend.

Declan Brown's Entry #2

This picture has good use of shutter speed and focus. The lighting on the camera was a little dark so we could have slowed down the shutter speed a little. The photo is also a little bit grainy but that can fixed by increasing one of the other options on the camera (I forget what the correct term is).

Possible places to take pictures:
Football, Soccer, Lacrosse, Baseball, Wrestling, Key club, Chess Club, Rugby, Special Olympics, Service Projects, Football game pregame festivities, back to school dance, homecoming, prom, and snoball.

Declan Brown Entry #1

A challenge I had this summer was going to the Villanova football camp at the end of the summer while being sick. At the beginning of the camp I was not doing too well and I started to feel sorry for myself. I started to pick up my play after our first break and I realized the opportunity I had at this camp. After the camp I talked to my recruiting coach at Villanova and they really liked me and are now actively recruiting me. Shortly after the camp, I went on a campus tour with one of the priests we know at the school. He also happens to be the assistant athletic director too. I had a really good time with him on the tour and I didn’t let my sickness get to me. I also went to the Yale football camp to and they challenged me to try and get a 27 on my ACT and if I do I earn myself a spot on the team. This is a future challenge for me that is coming up quickly and I look forward to completing this challenge and having a wonderful opportunity to go to a prestigious school like Yale.

This photo has good composition because it uses repetition. I took this picture in the weight room with all of the racks lined up against a mirror so it gets twice the repetition. There is also good balance in the photo because there is something happening in all parts of the picture but it is still centralized on one thing.
